new life...

Introducing 9 week old Samir (aka Sammy) and 8 week old Samra (aka Snuffles)
two very sick kitties that I picked up from the animal shelter on the weekend.
They usually put unclaimed animals down after 7 days of arrival :(

There is a saying that purring is the cat's recitation of "ar rahman" ....

Indeed, this is a great act of mercy, and may Allah shower his mercy on Sabirah more than she has showered hers on these kittens. While we are on the subject of mercy, those of us who call others to Islam (or in my case make a feeble attempt to do so) should remember the importance of mercy when doing the calling. The Prophet(SAW) is described in the Quran as a mercy to the worlds. And the Quran praises the leniency of the Prophet. And the Quran tells Musa and Harun (AS) to deal with even a tyrant like Firaun with kindness. But somehow, there are some callers out there who just don't seem to get it. I'm sure we've all come across them, and to be honest, there was a phase when I was rather harsh. Needless to say, the people I was harsh with didn't really seem to get my message. There was one young man I was related to who, when I got religious, I would deal rather harshly with, may Allah forgive me. He ended up marrying a Hindu girl, which probably says as much about me (at that time) than about him.

But I read this quote from Imam Suhaib Webb which should be a wake up call to myself and all callers:

"A trick from Shaytan, that he puts a harshness and a hatred towards the muslims in the hearts of the callers, so there is spite in thier hearts; spite instead of love; anger instead of mercy and arrogance instead of humility".

May Allah put love, mercy and humility in my heart, and in the heart of all callers to muslims, Ameen.

There was once this non islamic story I read: a man was seen on a beach throwing stranded and dying fish back into the water. There were millions of fish, so another man came and asked: what does it matter if you throw a couple of fish back into the water, they will all die anyway. The man replied: well, it does matter to the fish i'm holding in my hand! So they both ended up throwing as much fish back into the water they could

i did not have enough broadband usage to view the recommended video on the Deen Show. Just today I was able to view it.
I personally don't like the Deen Show (at all) but I thought Dr Brown had some good point, and I admire his strength in imaan. I have failed already many times seriously - being just not strong enough yet.
BTW was there a tafseer last night or have we just not been able to hear it because of all that noise?? ;-)
