just reading all this...

salah according to he different schools of law

I actually managed to read through most of it, and then I had to take a panadol.
How many Prophets did we actually have praying how many different ways of prayer?

Salam Sabirah

Welcome to the depth of fiqh... I would say that such an article is too complicated for new reverts, and for a lot of born muslims too for that matter. If you look at Suhaib Webb's blog, someone is putting together a summary of Fiqh As Sunnah, which is another manual of fiqh. The summary which the brother is putting together will be more helpful for you than something like this, Inshallah.

Salaam Aleykom Sabirah,

I can relate! But don't despair...I have Fiqh As Sunnah and it's a great reference. I've also found in my journey, that it's best to pick one madhab and follow it, otherwise it gets too confusing. There are four madhabs in Islam, I think it's best to talk to your imam about it. I got so disheartened going to the masjid to pray because inevitably some woman would correct me in my prayer. Once I learned the Hanafi madhab, I was able to say to people, thanks, but that's not how it is in Hanafi (by the way, most born Muslims really don't even know this much so I've experienced just saying that will turn them in their tracks).

I think it's important not to stress yourself out, don't forget that Islam was revealed over a course of 23 years, I don't think Allah Ta'ala expects us to perfect it so early in the journey:) I remember when I first started praying I thought Allah (swt) was laughing at me, I must have looked so funny, but to be honest there is nothing more beautiful than finding your destiny and having the courage to follow it, you should really be proud of yourself.

BTW, I got your blog info from Rhonda, I too, converted before marriage, so can definitely relate:)

wasalam,

Toni

sorry, one more comment. All four madhabs (not sure what the Arabic plural is) are correct, even though some will tell you differently - most likely depending on what part of the world they come from. It's best just to pick one and stick to it.

a great resource if you're interested in taking online courses is www.seekersguidance.org. I took their course on Hanafi Fiqh a few years ago and am currently taking the Islamic parenting course.

browsing fatwas? you might need another panadol, lol.

lol, yes there should be a fatwa against online fatwas. I know at least one shaikh that I can always ask - personally- and that's just no substitue for scary unpersonal efatwas.
WTF(atwa)!?
that link looks good! Parenting course? reason to congratulate..?
